Close & Convenient
Sugar River Outfitters offers service on the Upper Sugar River from Verona to Paoli, Belleville area, and down to Albany. Paddling with us gives you access to almost 40 miles of river! Only minutes southwest of Madison off of HWY 151 on HWY 69. Just over an hour from Milwaukee, and 3 hours from Chicago. In addition to our camping packages, there are also many hotels and other lodging options in the area if you would like to spend the night and try a different section the next day!
Simply check the calendar for availability on your desired day, give us a little information, reserve your boat, and check out using a debit or credit card. No need to try and figure out exact times or where to get on or off the river, we have you covered. Your rental is for a full day, so your time spent paddling is up to you. We have multiple locations and departure times to meet and get you on the water.
All daily rentals are considered full day. This means take your time, enjoy yourself, and have fun! We rent based on the boat, not the number of people, time, or trip you take. Compared to other activities like the movies, dining out, or a trip to the WI Dells, a family can get an entire day of fun for a relatively low cost! Camping packages are best taken advantage of by a group of 8 campers or more. These two day paddle and single night camping packages offer an affordable way to get families and groups riverside camping.
Just a Suggestion….
Don’t just think of this as a paddle down the river, it can be so much more! Pack a lunch and have a picnic in the park, both Paoli and Belleville offer great locations open to the public. Don’t want to pack a lunch? Stop and have lunch or dinner at a number of restaurants and taverns within walking distance from the river! Stop and enjoy the wildlife too, some areas will have Bald Eagles, Herons, Egrets, Ducks, and Geese. If you’re lucky, you may also see river otters, beaver, badgers, deer and other wildlife along the way. Keep your eyes and ears open! Dane County offers plenty of public lands along the river, feel free to enjoy the natural areas. Also, please respect the private land owners and do not trespass or litter.
