What to Expect From Us on Kayak River Trips Verona to Paoli
Shuttles taking you up river begin at 9am and run until 1pm. We meet all customers at
the Paoli Park shelter near the finish point of your day. Upon arrival to the starting point you
will receive a short update of the current speed and water level, and any known
hazards. Your reserved equipment will be waiting for you. You will receive assistance
entering the river and getting in your boat. When you reach the take out at Paoli, you
will get out of your boat and safely pull it ashore. Most paddlers take around 3 hours to
complete. Leave all equipment where indicated at the take out. Please keep in mind that
you are responsible for the equipment until it is safely in Paoli at the take out. We ask
that you plan to be off the water and have equipment available for pick up no later than
5 pm.
What to Expect From the River Verona to Paoli
Your experience on the river can be completely different each time you go. At times the
river can be shallow and slow moving in spots, sometimes requiring you jump out to
give your boat a quick shove. Other spots can be narrow, faster, and deeper. There will
be branches to duck under, push aside, and navigate around. You will find twists and
turns, and then longer easy sections. Water levels change, so even the same section
may be different each time you go. You will paddle through forests, wetlands, and fields.
You will be made aware of any known obstructions prior to your departure.

Natural Obstructions & River Maintenance
Throughout the year wind, high water, severe storms, and simple aging effects the trees
along the river’s banks. It is always possible a new obstruction can occur between
efforts to keep the river open. You may have to portage over or around trees and
branches. Always stay alert and communicate your experience to Sugar River Outfitters
staff.
Be Aware of Mother Nature
Although we strive to create a safe and fun experience, we can’t control Mother Nature.
We monitor water levels & speed, track severe storm systems, and always try to clear
debris from the river. However, if a dangerous situation should arise, we may delay or
even cancel your trip. If this were to happen, you will receive a rain check for a future
date or your money back. Simple rain and high or low temperatures are not considered
reasons to cancel, just part of the adventure, so please dress for the weather!
Come Prepared
Don’t forget those personal items that will make your day the best it can be. It is highly
suggested you wear some kind of water shoe. Sunscreen is a must, sunlight reflecting
off the water can be intense. This is a water activity, you will likely get wet and possibly
dirty, wear appropriate clothing. Avoid dehydration and bring a water bottle. Although
not usually a problem, bugs can become a nuisance at certain times of the season and
in certain places, grab your preferred repellent before you come. If you anticipate
bringing food and beverages on the river, please follow the strict “carry out what you
carry in” principle. Please note that glass bottles or containers are prohibited on the
river.
